About MacroPlate
MacroPlate turns "eat better" into numbers you can actually plate — starting with energy, then protein, then the split.
Most macro advice starts with a split — 40/30/30! — before establishing the two numbers that actually drive results: how much energy you burn, and how much protein you need. Get those wrong and every split fails. Get them right and almost any reasonable split works.
Our calculators run the published math — Mifflin-St Jeor for resting metabolism, activity multipliers for total burn, evidence-based ranges for protein — and then show what the numbers mean on a plate: grams per meal, per day, per training session.
We are educators, not dietitians, and we sell nothing: no meal-plan subscriptions, no supplement affiliates. The tools exist so your nutrition decisions start from your own arithmetic.
What makes MacroPlate different
- Your numbers never leave your browser. Every calculator on MacroPlate runs entirely on your device. We never see, store, or transmit the figures you enter — there are no accounts and no server-side processing of your inputs.
- Published methodology. Each calculator page explains the exact formula it uses and the assumptions behind it, so you can check our work or reproduce it in a spreadsheet.
- Free, forever, without a paywall. MacroPlate is supported by advertising. There is no premium tier, no email gate, and no upsell.
